So you may ask yourself, 'Gee mr. blog guy, where do you find all these videos?'. Well, curious internet friend, i have many sources, many, mysterious, sources. But mostly i'm bumming them off friends or finding them on sites like video Stumple Upon or Best of Youtube. I'm sure there are hundreds and millions of places that do this kind of stuff, but not everyone knows where to look, so that's where people like me come in. I just like to help - that's how i roll.
Some other good places to find videos:
Youtube has some decent recommendations now and again and if you're a member/logged-in then they'll give you suggestions based on what you watch or have favorited (good work)
Facebook: look at your friends posted items - that's where i put a lot of my favorite stuff before i started this here web site. (this solution actually requires having friends, and friends who like interesting things, and who post them to facebook - so this may not work for everyone - unless you have me as a friend!!)
As i mentioned above - stumbleupon is an amazing place to waste a few hours
Also as i mentioned in my first post, Digg generally has current, interesting news and videos
So to end off this post, lets look at the somewhat recent weezer video 'Pork and Beans' and all the wonderful internet memes it includes.
Ok, so i haven't been paying a lot of attention to this blog for a while, but i thought of a good 'topic' that i think will keep me updating - it's something that i'll be looking at/for anyways, so it should be good. I'm going to try and be my own Digg.com - that is, i'll be posting interesting videos and articles that i find, or my friends find, from all around the web. Generally they'll be funny or insightful videos and/or geeky developer stuff. But i think there'll be enough fun things for anyone.
So to start off i found this interesting interview over at O'Reilly that asks questions to the "project software engineer for the Phoenix Lander Mission". Some pretty interesting stuff. They have to work under some pretty stringent guidelines and ensure that a 700lb object lands on a planet millions of miles away... pretty crazy software/hardware feat!
On a bit of a lighter note, my co-worker Matt sent me a link to this cool website that does a lot of i'm hoping to do in the future - and that is provide lots of entertaining videos and content. So you might want to check out todaysbigthing.com. The one for today is especially cool - stop-motion is a huge internet hot item. Some people are taking the medium to amazing levels. Continuing on, another co-worker (Clinton), sent me this fun game that grabbed my attention for a while - IndestructoTank A.E. Not a lot to explain, just make sure you hit the ground every now and again or else you run out of gas (not sure how that works, but i didn't make the game!)
Well i think that's enough for my first post on this new topic. I've got a number of videos that i plan on putting up here soon, it's just a matter of time now. Hopefully i can get a couple of people to view the blog and if my friends at work keep coming up with content, then i'll have lots of goodies to share with the masses (or just you 2 people who'll show up randomly - thanks by the way)...
